Profile: I’ve been translating professionally from Spanish into English since September 1999. Besides general texts, I focus on four main areas: leisure and tourism; translating and editing academic papers for publication (mostly humanities and social sciences) written by university researchers; environment and wildlife conservation (due to a personal interest in these topics); and education (as I used to be a teacher of German, French and English as a foreign language). I also provide localisations from US to UK English and proof-editing of any document written in English, especially by non-native speakers.

Since I lived in Spain for nearly 14 years in three major cities (Granada, Madrid and Barcelona) and return as often as I can for holidays and work events, I am well versed in the country’s diverse culture and landscapes.

Unless asked to use a different style, I base my work on the New Oxford Style Manual, as recommended by the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP). I have taken the SfEP introduction to proofreading course and regularly read style and proofreading books to sharpen my editing skills.

I try to make my texts easy to read and natural-sounding without losing sight of the original content and message. Please see my website for further details.
