Report from the ITI Wessex AGM

Fifteen members of the ITI Wessex group met for the group’s 2019 AGM and lunch at the Bell Inn in the New Forest on 7 February.

You can read the agenda here.

There were many great proposals for future events which are now being “put into the pot”.

Post-editing of machine translation seems to be a hot topic. We are also supporting language students at Portsmouth University by contributing to its “Engaging with the profession” series. Read about the first in this series.

Events should have the aim of one of the following:
a. Fostering our own improved knowledge and competence.
b. Outreach – facilitating valuable collaboration with other organisations, particularly for those starting out in our profession, and raising awareness of the work we do.
c. Social – establishing new ways to network and socialise.

There were also discussions about the group’s Constitution, Privacy Policy, ITI Bylaws and how to promote the interests of the members of the group.
